Dr. Rakesh Kumar Joshi has been working as a lecturer in chemistry in the department of education at the Government of Uttarakhand, India, since 2006. He did his Ph.D. in Aromatic and Medicinal Plants in 2012 from Kumaun University, Nainital, India. He has published about seventy (70) research and review articles from the research output of his research work on aromatic and medicinal plants. In all these articles, about thirty-five (35) review and research articles have been published in collaboration with professors and scientists from foreign universities like the USA, Brazil, China, Taiwan, France, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, and Nigeria. He has published two edited books, “Advances in Essential Oils and Natural Products,” volumes two and three. Volume four is in progress. He has attended more than twenty (20) national and international seminars, one in India and one outside of India. Previously, he worked at the National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi, in nanotechnology and biosensor technology, and also at SLIET Longowal, Sangrur, Punjab, in polymer chemistry for recycling pet bottles. He is also a reviewer of many essential oils and natural products-related journals.
He is also working as an Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Herbal Medicine, Editor-American Journal of Essential Oils and Natural Products, and Associate Editor of the International Journal of Pharmacognosy and Chinese Medicine, Journal of Natural & Ayurvedic Medicine since 2013. He is also a life member of the Essential Oil Association of India. Presently, with his teaching, he is engaged, to some extent, with local farmers to promote the farming of aromatic and medicinal plants in rural areas of Uttarakhand.
